Getting to work early, Evan Schultz’s goal just 5:22 into the game puts the Bulls up 1-0 at the first intermission. The Bulls with more than double Evansville’s shots at 13-6 in the 1st.
Evansville takes advantage of the power play in the 2nd period to tie the game 1-1 (13:58). Shane Topf gets that back with a goal at the 11:55 mark with Taylor Dickin assisting. Then Josh Harris adds a shorthanded goal with 3:10 remaining, assists from Steven Phee & Phil Tesoriero. Shane Topf makes it 4-1 Bulls with his second goal of the night. Assists come from Justin Larson & Matt Fuller with 1:09 in the 2nd. Bulls trail in shots 9-10 in the period but the math will leave Evansville scratching their heads. Bulls lead 4-1 at the second break.
After a tighter, scoreless 3rd period has the Bulls celebrating a 4-1 victory over Evansville. Birmingham edges the Thunderbolts on shots 6-5 for a total of 28 shots to 21. Charlie Millen gets the win stopping 20 of 21.
