The Bulls looked aggressive coming out in the first period. Charlie Millin in goal, and they go to work. Nate Mitton put the Bulls up early at 8:45 with a pass from Alexander Taulien beating the goalie in the 5-hole. The guys continued to play hard but couldn’t find success in this period and a fluke steal and breakaway gave Peoria a chance to tie with a short-handed goal. Shots BHM 10 PEO 7
The 2nd Period scoring saw Keegan Bruce with pretty goal at 7:15 with assists from Reilly and Phee. Peoria again managed to tie it at the end of a power play. Technically even strength as Brandon Millin had just left the box. Shots on goal are a lopsided 18-4 in favor of Peoria in the 2nd. Charlie Millin doing a stellar job in the pipes.
The 3rd Period saw Peoria outshoot the Bulls 16-9 but neither team managed to score until Josh Harris scored with 1:05 left. Assists go to Bruce and Taulien. Many fans thought we had it won, myself included, but once again Peoria managed to tie it up by pulling their goalie for an extra attacker. They found the goal just 20 seconds later to send the game to overtime. After an exciting 5 minute 3-on-3 scoreless OT period that saw the Bulls get close a few times, the game would come down to a shoot out. Much like the entire game, it seemed that Peoria had an answer to every goal the Bulls made. After 9 rounds of shooters, Charlie Millin managed to shut it down and notch the win he and the Bulls have been looking for. (Millin stopped 40/43 for a save percentage of .930 on the night) The crowd erupted into a celebration and we all breathed a sigh of relief. We BULLieved all along and now we look forward to the next one.
Go Bulls!!!
