The Bulls are on the road tonight in Macon, Georgia in search of the illusive first win. The 1st period proves to be a defensive fight and the game remains scoreless through the opening 20 minutes. Reported shots on goal are a lopsided 2-14 in favor of Macon.
Continuing into the 2nd period neither team can light the goal until the 14:14 mark when Macon finds success and takes the lead. Both teams continue to have trouble beating the goalies and the score remains 1-0 into the second intermission. Shots on goal again, in favor of Macon, are 9-19.
Macon manages to score quickly going into the 3rd period lighting it up with only 2:06 off the clock to go up by 2. The Mayhem find their way past Parks a third time with 12:01 left in the game while still holding the Bulls scoreless.
A Mayhem power play goal with 7:37 left made it seem like a replay of last night’s game in Pelham. However, John Rey finds success to avoid a second shutout in as many nights with 6:11 on the clock. Gammage and Mitton each get an assist. In the closing seconds, a delay of game penalty on the Bulls allows Macon to score on a penalty shot to bring the final score to 5-1 in favor of the home team Macon Mayhem. Shots on goal are 7-11 (Macon) to bring the total to MAC 44 – BIR 18. The Bulls fall to 0-6 on the season.
Birmingham will return home next week to play Friday (7:30) and Saturday (7:00) nights hosting Mississippi and Peoria respectively. We look forward to seeing you back at the Pelham Civic Complex. Go Bulls!
